The following audio clips are processed versions of the original audio track.

Play Clip Description of Processing
Hear clip 1 This is a rough "drums only" edit from a complete recording of a pop ballad. There were six microphones used on the drum set -- M-Audio Solaris in an X/Y configuration for the overheads, M-Audio Nova on each of the 2 toms, a modified Shure SM57 on the snare, and a Shure Beta 52 on the kick. All were recorded through an M-Audio Octane preamp into a ProjectMix and Pro Tools M-Powered. The original recording has no processing at all (except for gated kick and tom tracks). This one has EQ on the kick, snare, and overheads (using Digirack 7-band EQ3).
Hear clip 2 This is the same mix but with light compression on the kick and snare (using Digirack Compressor/Limiter 3).
Hear clip 3 Same mix again, but with heavier compression on kick, snare, and overheads (using Smack!).

What stands out the most to me is the EQ. The mixes are definitely much more clear than the original. It sounds really good.

Thanks. I thought the EQ was maybe a little bright listening to the drums alone, but in the context of the entire mix it seems to work.
