 Description
Performed by Parker Mann, this was my freshly re-strung Taylor guitar, recorded through an Apogee AD16X, lightpiped into a Fireface 800, into Samplitude V9 Pro.

There is no processing on the SM81, but the CS-1 was slightly compressed by a FATSO on the way in. The CS-1 is panned mostly left and the SM81 is panned mostly right. I also made the SM81 side a little louder than the CS-1 to sparkle it up a bit. The purpose of the CS-1 was to add a little warmth and body to the brighter SM81.

The CS-1 thru the vipre seems to do a good job of giving the guitar body, without being TOO boomy. Most mics have a hard time pulling that off. Nice job.

Different mic and different pre? Too many variables to leave any meaningful comparison I'm afraid.

This recording is not comparing the CS-1 to the SM81. It's demonstating how the two mics sound together as a pair. When you click on the "Listen" button you hear both mics together in stereo. The individual tracks 1 and 2 are just provided so you can hear the parts that make up the stereo mix.
