Our client wasn't happy with his drum sound. The original clip is the sound he was getting with his previous setup. To protect the manufacturers of the products I wont reveal the specific gear, but it was respectable stuff and thousands of studios across the world have similar setups. We had our acoustics specialist work with him to get his room properly treated. We then replaced his overhead mics, his preamps, his converters, and cables. We then talked about a few different mic placements he could try. His total net cost of the gear purchased was +136, which means he actually saved $136 (not including room treatment) after buying the gear we recommended! Also, the original recording consists of 2 oh's, a snare mic (sm57), and a kick mic. There is no additional processing on this recording. The AFTER recording is just overheads.
